ORANGE — Work got started Tuesday, Aug. 6, on the Be Well OC Regional Mental Health and Wellness Hub when a demolition crew began tearing down an old office complex on Anita Drive near Chapman Avenue and the 57 Freeway.
The estimated $40 million facility is expected to open next year and house a host of services provided through a public-private partnership: short- and long-term mental health treatment; psychiatric crisis-stabilization units; substance abuse assessment, withdrawal management, and addiction recovery; and residential programs.
The property at 265 S. Anita Drive is a short distance from the Santa Ana River Trail, where hundreds of homeless people camped out until early 2018, many of them in need of mental health treatment and substance abuse services.
